SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON "EDELWEISS"...

The alpine Edelweiss, in the German language means noble and white!
The name Edelweiss (from edel: noble and weiss: white) is Swiss German and dates as back as far as 1784.

Edelweiss became the symbol of protection of nature.

Edelweiss has long held a special place in the hearts of Austrians.

This alpine plant covered in a soft white down, nicknamed "Blossoms of Snow and Flower of Emperors and Kings", is in effect the national emblem of Austria.

In the past, the gift of an Edelweiss flower meant a great proof of love by collecting Edelweiss from hard to access crags and ledges, proving in those days that the suitor was brave, able-bodied and serious in his intentions. Today, Edelweiss is a protected flower and it is strictly forbidden to pick them.

Edelweiss is a rare flower containing precious actives for skin care, for reparation, soothing and preserving the skin from the effects of weather elements.

 Edelweiss "Leontopodium alpinum" is generally found growing at altitudes from 1700 meters to 3400 meters.

Edelweiss Folklore: Known as a powerful Talisman to ward off evil - also known as the "Love Charm of the Mountains".

The Edelweiss plant contains phytochemicals such as Chlorogenic acid, Luteolin, Bisabolane derivatives, and beta Sitosterol which demonstrate antioxidant, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory characteristics. Particular recommended for anti-aging formulations, anti-oxidative stress formulations, and suncare formulations. Edelweiss, living at high altitudes developed a system of defense in order to protect itself from uv rays, and its properties may prevent aging of the skin.
